What do you think of DLC (downloadable content)? Is it awesome, dumb, too expensive? Does it limit gameplay for people who don't have it? Let me know down below!

It depends on what they are calling DLC. Bungie is doing it all wrong with destiny by claiming that what they offer is an expansion. What they gave was a couple bs missions and new armor and weapons. Most would consider that DLC such as myself. That is a rip off. If done correctly DLC can be fantastic. Take Microsoft for example with Forza Horizon 2. Their DLC car packs come out every month or two and you can ether buy specific cars for a dollar or two, buy the whole pack for more, or get a season pass and have all cars when they are released. Then when they release an EXPANSION you get an entirely new gameplay area with new physics, event types, cars, car parts, and weather. In the end it comes down to cost versus the amount of content you get. DLC is great if it's for the right price.

由Reign of Bane編輯: 2/3/2015 9:03:57 AMIt's the scourge of the industry, most developers just cut content on purpose or develop it alongside the main game just to extort more money from us at a later date after we have already forked out £59.99 for the game. (or whatever currency you use/current gen). >Day 1 DLC is a joke, it's worthless. >Maps and skins/armour/costumes should be free. >Cutting story from main game and selling it as DLC is an insult. >Season pass buyers are facilitating this practice. There are examples of where DLC adds to a complete game, Borderlands 2 is an example of this and I hear Skyrim is as well. Bad examples far outweigh the good ones. Kudos to the developers of Witcher 3 that are giving away free DLC and of course to Nintendo.

Pisses me off to know end about those who hate DLC just because one developer/published decided to get lazy/overprice. DLC can be an amazing thing. Look at GTA. Elder Scrolls. DLC can also be a bad thing. Look at Destiny. Look at Dying Light before they changed it. I love DLC. It gives me more time in a game I enjoy.

I feel DLC should not be announced/built/started/ until after the game's release. Like how back in the day when DLC and expansions first started appearing. They weren't even a thought until the game did well enough that the developers thought it'd be a good idea to continue the story, or likein Halo 2's case-adding multiplayer map packs. This whole fad of building DLC before the main game is finished is a just simply a cash grab. Bungie's handling of Destiny is one of the worst offenders of this style of DLC.

Too many times it is simply an excuse for developers to charge extra for content that should have been released with the game anyway. Rockstar is one of the few where it isn't a blatant ripoff.
