No, not the ones that give healthcare, food stamps, or social security. The ones that are actually costing the avg American household thousands of dollars a year.
The welfare programs we need to cut are the corporate welfare.
The avg American household loses $6000 a year to corporate welfare programs.
So I ask, where is the cry from republicans who are "fiscally conservative" to cut these programs that are costing us billions?
Overall, American families are paying an annual $6,000 subsidy to corporations that have doubled their profits and cut their taxes in half in ten years whilecutting 2.9 million jobs in the U.S. and adding almost as many jobs overseas.
This is more than an insult. It's a devastating attack on the livelihoods of tens of millions of American families. And Congress just lets it happen.
Discuss.

I would find multiple, better sources. Also remember that Americans were losing jobs because of the financial crisis and it was the Obama administration who was for the auto bailout and the bank bailouts. Other corporate welfare things are tax incentives so they use clean energy, and other things. There are definitely some programs that should be cut but don't lump them all together. P.S. I'm a liberal.

I agree with about 50% of what is stated in the article. We should not be paying for land to not be farmed. The other 50 is either not a true cost or is something I believe they should be incentivized for. The government is taking in record amounts of money through taxes. What America truly needs is a simplified tax system, a flat 10% tax rate. No loopholes, no hiding money overseas etc. Make it simple and everyone contributes to the country, shrink the bloated budgets the government wastes and America can still have plenty of $.

Easiest way to solve a big percentage is to not give more money to woman who have more kids. Yes I understand one kid sure give me some help. If you need help with one why the hell would you have another. Take the kid and their money. Especially if they show up to get their money with gold nails and the first 6 kids are wearing 100 dollar shoes.

I understand the Republican outrage of people abusing welfare, but I wish they would express that same outrage for corporations abusing welfare subsidies or rich billionaires abusing tax loopholes and bank loopholes. It's a problematic double-standard I've noticed among many Repubs in my personal experience.

Exactly! It always amazes me when a lot of conservatives get upset about giving aid to poor people when they seem to have no problem giving massive govt subsidies and aid to ridiculously wealthy corporations.

Most of those costs aren't on an average American family. Sure, if you average the cost over total American families it makes it sound more controversial and gets attention (which isn't necessarily a bad thing). But in all reality, the bottom 50% of income earning Americans pay maybe 15% of the total taxes so these numbers exaggerate the actual affect on average Americans. Also, how much of those programs or incentives are covered by the income tax the corporations pay? For sure though, tax laws and government subsidies should be reviewed and reformed to cut back spending and eliminate the government being taken advantage of by companies. On the other hand, not all of those subsidies should necessarily be cut completely. Some things, including income subsidizing for farmers who lose income, help keep families and small corporations going.

由ghettosquad编辑: 8/12/2015 5:49:09 PMhealthcare, food stamps, and social security are exactly the programs that need to go away. I interviewed a 20 something young lady yesterday for a position at my work. She is a single mom that has a passion to go to work. However she chooses not to because she makes more money staying at home doing nothing from the "free" government programs then she would if I offered her a job at 50k a year. She just goes to interviews and turns down the jobs so she can keep getting the "free" money.

Idk. Maybe we should all get welfare. Maybe the gov should just pay us to live in America. Maybe I need money to buy cases of soda and subscribe to Netflix and pay my rent. That way I have no hardships and everyone will be happy forever.

Yea lets cut the only financial benefit the poor ppl who do EVERYTHING that makes society run and for minimum wage at part time hours! HAVE YOU SEEN FIGHT CLUB?! We cook your food, drive you places, stock your stores, transport your goods, crunch your numbers, we supply all industry at the base level and if you F*** with us ALL of that infrastructure WILL BREAK! You cut those programs and you WILL be instigating employed slavery on top of currently existing: debt slavery AND permanent class separation Watch how fast you get open rebellion forcing militant occupation and policing!

Foreal dude. I mean don't cut it completely off because if a company goes down lots of people could lose their jobs but they should at least lower that shit. Side note: A large percentage of people(not corporations) are only welfare for an average of 6-7 months. The max amount a person can get is 5 years but most people aren't on it for that long.

It won't stop until lobbying is banned and only a few senators like Bernie Sanders are campaigning to stop the legal bribery . We all need to vote out the establishment clowns on both sides.

Why can't the world treat people fairly? And why can't we have a healthy mix of both political standpoints?
