I've seen many Christians now trying to reconcile their faith with modern science, namely the theory of evolution, which I think is great. I encourage the belief in evolution. However, they need to understand that the belief in evolution and their metaphorical interpretation of Genesis cannot coexist.
In case you were unaware, their metaphorical belief consists of them believing that the 6 days of creation were actually metaphors for millions or billions of years. However, this is impossible, as in the Bible, it is clearly stated that God created plants first, then the sun.
How could plants survive for millions/billions of years without a sun, or a source of energy? It's impossible.
You either fully accept evolution and deny the account of creation, or you don't. There's no middle ground anymore.
Purse, out.

This is purely my opinion and cannot be validated but... religious behavior is to use "god of the gaps" to answer the unanswered, however as the scientific community closes in on these unanswered questions the religious community sway more towards science with words such as "misinterpreted" and/or "translation". That's just my opinion though.

Christianity is based on everlasting life, forever, no time, maybe the interpretation of timescale is off due to the lack of understanding of time on such a grande scale. Nothing happened in an instance, everything happened by design.

Wasn't there a part where God said "Let there be light?" This, I think, means the Big Bang. Meaning that stars would have already started to form. Meaning the Sun came before the Earth. Or something. Idk. I ain't religious. Correct me if I'm wrong.

It's also pretty clearly stated that God created light first, and that the earth was originally formless.
