Hello fellow researchers and Guardians from clans across the galaxy, Brother Vance has once again summoned us into the Trials of Osiris. With this in mind, researchers from across the Tower have teamed up to provide you with the information you need!
Osiris has chosen The Cauldron this weekend for combat.

Research has shown the following for this map.
- The Cauldron is the smallest of maps in the rotation of Trials maps. It follows a triangular pattern and spawns both enemies in the bottom corners of the triangle. While there are many locations to run around and blink shotgun fellow guardians, there are also plenty of sniper lanes available throughout the map.
- Key lanes include the outside bridge looking into the top doors, the hallway between the inner two blue room entrances, as well as the bottom doors looking into the center of the cauldron.
- What's even more important is that guardians must react quickly to enemy engagements, especially in this map. This is due to the Cauldron's smaller size compared to other maps, allowing players to flank easily and push into different locations quicker than maps like Pantheon or Widows Court.
- Never decide on one single strategy to take you through the entire match as this leaves you predictable as a team. Learn to bring engagements to where you want them to be rather than the other way around.
- Flanking is a key component to the Cauldron, due to the small nature of the map, successful flanks in the Cauldron will allow for quick match wins before the enemy team can react. This can be achieved with 2 team members focusing on the enemy team while the third player quickly eliminates the enemy team from another direction. In this map, flanking can be successful against a team that likes to stick around the B capture point.
- Push the Cauldron together as a team! If there is less than three people coming in on the enemy side, then you already place yourself in an advantage against theirs, provided you take them out. It leaves their Ghost stuck inside your line while all they can do is listen to their teammates callouts.
- Use the Blue room! (Top corner of triangle) Many times, the enemy team forgets that this room exists while they camp in their respective green or red rooms. Having two team members storm through the blue room as you hold down the Cauldron allows your team to pick off hardscoping teams or players too focused on you.
- Play passive too! If the enemy team is constantly bulldozing you with the last word and a shotgun (which in this map, seems to be more often than not), play to their lack of reactive time. Shotgun wielders play to the fact that you are behind cover or that you are hiding next to a corner. Use that chance to have a good sniper on your team pick off those coming in your way!
- Use that bridge too! At times, the enemy team will aim down the outside bridge area to see if you are planning to flank them. If you know you can countersnipe them, take them out for an easy 3v2 advantage. If not, be sure to bring a friend who can team shoot the enemy for you.
- During heavy, it's generally a good idea to split up since the enemy team can easily throw out a super to cover the heavy crate on the bridge or the blue room. If facing a full team, play distraction long enough for your buddies to come in and take out enemies before they stand a chance.
- Use the bottom door entering the Cauldron and use the tunnel below the middle door! It is a fantastic location to throw off players in the Cauldron long enough for your teammates to come in and finish the job.
- In the Cauldron, timing your attacks and reacting to enemy attacks is more important than anything once again, due to the small nature of the map. Many of the tactics listed above will not work if you fail to maintain consistent communication as a team. Know how you as a team work, the callouts for the map (green room, blue room, cauldron, bridge, etc), and when to change weapons and playstyle.
The tips listed above are only but a few researchers have found as they earned their way to Mercury. If you fellow Guardian, have found valuable information for other Guardians to read, do not hesitate to comment below. Thank you for your time, and may we wish you the best of luck in your passage into the Trials of Osiris! Also, apologies for any typos, the researchers have been up all night trying to find more secrets and haven't had the time to edit their work.
This has been Sunban, doing what we must. Because we can. See you next time!
