Tabula Rasa. It was a game very similar to Destiny. I loved that game. Got the collectors version when it launched. Then before it was even 1 year old NCsoft pulled the plug and shut the game off. No offline mode just like Destiny. The game was gone for ever.
Or Hell Gate London. Launched around the same time as Tabula Rasa. Also shut down forever.

If game servers are shut down due to financial reasons, that is understandable. Not saying that was definitely the case. The shut down of servers is inevitable. However, Destiny is going strong, with no signs of shutdowns till at least Destiny 2 comes out. Besides, when Destiny 2 comes out, it will most likely be a migration with all data in tact, but the servers running for the new game. I expect Destiny to be fully obsolete at that point.
