=============================
*This Chapter is from Blake's view.*
“RAAAWR!” I screamed throwing Hammers at a Striker brave enough to try to smash me. That’s gonna hurt him in the morning.
Crota paid for what he did to JJ. But that wasn’t enough. I had to continue. Everyone must know my pain.
I heard over the comms: “Oh it is on like Donkey Kong.”
Not the best challenge I heard so far. The best I heard was: Remember how I said it was on? Now it’s Junior Rodeo on!” I heard that one from a Gunslinger who popped super like, thirty matches ago.
Anyway, this f**ker ran straight at me. He was about to shoulder charge me. Another Hammer thrown, another mistake made. The match was over.
“You can fight with me at anytime, Guardian,” Lord Shaxx said. I’m pretty sure he is tired of saying that.
“That’s your 75th Unbroken match in a row, Blake!” Flame announced, “You think you can hit 100?”
“All day, everyday,” I replied.
Twenty-four matches later, we wound up on Pantheon. One of my favourite maps. I mean it’s not my most favorite, but it’s up there.
I looked at who I was up against. Just one Titan. Not the same one I fought earlier. This one was different… and familiar.
I ran into battle. I was a bit hesitant, out of curiosity. Turns out, he wasn’t hesitant.
“I don’t want to end the streak now,” I muttered.
He pulled out a sniper and aimed for my face. Just as he pulled the trigger, I brought out the hammers.
“So, you want to play that game, don’t you?” he told me.
He brought out the hammers. This was getting intense. I felt the world around me slow as we threw Hammers at each other.
We both dodged. We attacked again. Dodged again. It was a stalemate. Nobody was dead, yet.
“Can we just end this?” his Ghost asked.
“Sure, Delph,” he replied.
I was frozen in shock. Two things ran through my mind: One, JJ is awake?. Two: What the f**k is he trying to do?.
JJ clipped his Hammer to his mark. He pulled the sniper back out and quickly scoped in on my head, and pulled the trigger twice.
“What a shame,” Shaxx said.
I was just done. I left to orbit. One match from 100 unbroken in a row. One match. I returned to the Tower.
I had three packages from Lord Shaxx at the postmaster. I opened them. In them were a Y-09 Longbow Synthesis, decent roll, Ambush included; A Matador, god roll, gonna have fun with that; and of course, some legendary boots.
I swear there was mutual sadness creeping around the Tower. Something had happened. I didn’t know what.
I also didn’t want to find out. That sadness just struck Flame. Recently, his shell had started putting off a light smoke. Like some sort of spark in the Light had caught fire. Now, something has smothered that spark.
“Flame,” I asked, “What is going on? Something seems wrong.”
“I don’t know,” Flame replied. The Ghost was obviously hiding something. He seemed to be hiding it in a worried manner. Maybe he was hiding it to protect me.
“What are you hiding from me?” I whispered.
Flame hesitated, “If I tell you, it’ll stir your emotions. This is the calmest you’ve been since--”
“Crota,” I finished, “How long since that happened?”
“Four days. You’ve been tearing your way through the Crucible for four days, non-stop.”
“Can you at least tell me what going on?”
“No. You’ll burst into rage. Nobody wants a repeat of what you did.”
“What did I do?”
“First off, Sunbreaker in the Crucible. That was scary for everyone. The champions backed off. Two, the source of all that rage was pain. And if I told you what was going on, it might add to that pain.”
One of my closest friends had been knocked out and unresponsive. Now, he seemed okay, when I just faced off against him. Unless…
“There is something wrong with JJ, isn’t there?” I asked.
Flame bobbed up and down, “He doesn’t even remember us asking him to call him that. He has a slight understanding of what's going on, but he has lost a huge portion of his memories.”
Immediately, my heart dropped. I grew angry, converting the pain into a burning flame.
I looked at my hand. It was on fire. Nearby Guardians slowly began to inch away. I stared into the fire.
I saw an image in the flames, for some reason. It was me, JJ, and Chase, all standing in a semi-circle.
A deep voice next me said, “Your brothers in Light.”
I willed the fire to die out. I turned to see the Speaker standing next to me. I’d only met the Speaker once.
“Come, Blake,” he said. He led me into the Northern area of the Tower, to his chambers.
“I have kept an eye on you. I have seen the fire in your Light since Flame found you. At first, it was a little spark. Now, it is a blazing fire,” he told me.
“But, what about the ’brothers in Light’ thing you just told me?” I asked.
“Do you not realize that yourself, and two of your closest friends have the same light between the three of you. Three Titans, same two sparks. It seemed as if the light of a Guardian was distributed between the three of you.
The spark of Solar Light was stronger than the one of Arc Light. Your companions, they learned this early on. Realizing the destructive nature of Solar Light, both decided to act,” the Speaker told me.
“Go on,” I requested.
“Chase, he wanted to smother out his spark with Void Light. Unfortunately, that took some time. He finally knows how to shield his allies, but he has still a bit to learn. And the fire has grown.
James, he prefered to hone his fire as a defense. As a reinforcement of a crumbling defenses. He also, has taken Void Light as a second Light. But given a chance, he will charge.”
“What about me?” I asked.
“You use the Solar light’s destruction as an advantage. You charge into battle, enjoying watching your enemies fall, and scatter. You believe the best defense is a good offense. But, it has consequences.
Solar light is like a living flame. It must feed off of a fuel. That fuel is your anger. You seem to turn all of your pain into anger. Then, from your actions, it turns into… pride.”
“We have evidence of that last part you mentioned,” Flame said.
“Flame, what are you talking about?” I asked.
“He’s just been pulled out of a 99 match unbroken streak. Non-stop Hammers. Terrified Guardians for days,” Flame continued.
I didn’t like that statement, “That has nothing to do with--”
“Objection, your honor. I have proof that you are a true pyromaniac,” Flame continued.
“Flame, we’re not in court,” the Speaker said.
“Violation number one: Final battle against Crota. James falls, you turn into bonfire. And with the Phoenix acting as a hot gust of wind, you went from campfire to forest fire in 2.5 seconds. If you threw a firewall ‘nade into to the European Dead Zone, you would have set off a real wildfire.
Violation number two: The days following that battle. The unbroken streak. Not even a tether could stop you. A F**KING TETHER couldn’t stop you, Blake,” Flame said.
“Is this true?” The Speaker asked.
I nodded in shame. I couldn't lie to the Speaker.
“I can only wish you the best,” the Speaker said, “Go along, find your companions.”
