The beta feels a bit dry compared to the first one. If you arent a pvp player this beta will be a bit empty. Perhaps this is done to have more focus on pvp feedback to know if players like the changes.
The Strike: Fun, a bit long but very pretty and a decent challenge. Commentary by the ghost and failsafe was a nice bit of extra detail.
Abilities: a bit confusing of a layout for me. But I played destiny since the beta of the first one so its probably just me trying to shake the old layout.
Guns: Some felt pitiful while others felt amazing. In all honesty the exotics felt entirely forgettable. They didnt feel special or fun to use personally. The guns that really stood out for me were "Better devils(my favorite by miles, seriously. Sounds great, hits hard, good control and looks amazing)", "Does not compute", "Nightshade" and "Deathstalker".
Guns I didnt like not including exotics are "Black scorpion(full auto firerate felt too slow for the little damage it does as a scout)", "Minuet-42(no punch, looks nice but a hand cannon Id likely dismantle if I got it), "the showrunner(too jumpy even with increased stability)" and finally the grenade launcher "Acantha-D". Just felt awkward to use but then grenade launchers have always felt odd in games for me with the only exception being in Halo Reach.
PvP: In short, it felt like Battlefield survivability on a CoD map. You die way too fast in a cramped tiny map. If you dont have a teammate or two communicating and sticking with you constantly you are going to die constantly. I personally didnt like the Crucible at all and that was just on "low intensity". If I wanted to die that easy with some special abilities Id play Crisis, Doom or Titanfall. I played Crucible all the time in Destiny1 and this felt way different but really similar to games like Crisis or CoD just by shear chaos and how easy you die.
Mechanics: First just fyi I had no idea I had to hold the B/O button to use my extra ability and didnt figure it out till my third run through the spire. Cool addition but would have been nice to have a prompt in the starting mission telling me how(or maybe there was and I didnt see it). The float and aim feature for the warlock is a great feature that feels like it should have been in the first one. The warlocks flying sword super felt very underwhelming personally. I dont like being stuck in the air while enemy players or ai pelt the crap out of me. Also the sword just felt boring. Sorry, its just that it didnt seem Super worthy. There have been swords in destiny for a while and this one just feels like another sword like the arc one but you float.
The Sentinel is also a subclass I am going to be staying away from. It feels like you tried to make it more offense capable but still keeping its defense and it just feels like it falls short for both now. But thats just me and my play style. I got nothing bad to say about the arcstrider but nothing great to say about it either.
Having side abilities that stay regardless of subclass equipped is fantastic!
Overall: I love the guns and cant wait to start grinding for new epic guns and collecting new stuff to customize them. PvP Im probably not going to play much if it stays as is.
Strikes I am looking forward to if the spire is any indication of what is to come.
Visuals look gorgeous if a bit grainy.
Humor is back and I love that.
The Cabal have LOTS of new tricks and I hope the other races do too.
I cant wait to log in and get totally absorbed into Destiny all over again!
Side note: Loved the original Destiny I had it on 360, Ps3, Xb1 and Ps4 and binge watched Byf, Myelin games, Unknown player as well as Moreconsole
