It would be nice if there were more Mod options for those of us who can live without Weapon-related Mods (targeters, finders, reloaders, etc).
I have yet to find Fastball, Momentum Transfer, etc, and hope they aren't linked to the Class Item as pretty much all non-weapon Mods seem to be. This has been my primary complaint with Armor 2.0.
Previously with the random rolled perks, you'd find Super Increasing perks (Ashes to Assets, Pump Action, etc) were on the helm. Grenade/Melee perks on Gloves, and Class Ability perks on Boots.
I can see Class Ability Mods (Distribution, Bomber, etc) tied to the Class Item, but having everything stacked to the Class Item instantly and severely limits the possible options.
There are reasons they can't be simply Stacked on every piece of gear, but this would be soft-countered by energy requirements, and could be hard countered by either/both Stack Caps or limiting the amount of pieces, for example: add Ashes to Assets to both Helm and Class Item, or Distribution to both Boots and Class Item.
The old Perks and new Mods stack, so at the low end it's awesome until one begins to find more armor with higher stats that slowly outweigh the Perks... but if one could put the new Mods where old Perks were placed, one could make more maximized ability builds.
Those perks are still there. they are tied to certain affinities though, so you have to find them. If you don't see them, you haven't found them yet. Turn in vanguard/crucible/destination tokens to get mods fastest.
