I went through all the cloaks in my collection to analyze just how bad the Assassins' Cowl clipping is.
Listen, I get it, many different armour pieces clip through each other in the game and it's something that is bound to happen, you simply cannot account for every armour combination. In the case of Assassin's Cowl though, the clipping is not the exception, but the rule.
Out of every cloak model in my collection (I'm sure I'm missing some here or there) only in 14 cloak models did the Assassin's Cowl's bright Macramé web not clip through the back or front of the hood, this including the 3 hoodless cloaks available.
The remaining 70+ different cloak models all clipped through in some way, and I divided them based on personal opinion: the ones that are kind of acceptable, and the ones that are simply egregious.
If we look at universal ornament cloaks only, out of the 21 models in my collection, only 2 do not clip, and those are the hoodless cloaks.
You read that right. Every single universal ornament cloak that has a hood clips through the Assassin's Cowl.
In my opinion, this is simply an oversized helmet. There's no reason for it to be as big as it is, please fix.
Small graphical issues on otherwise-cool equipment is heartbreaking (note: exaggeration). It’s inherently low-priority, so it’s probably not gonna get fixed for ages—if ever—and once you see it, you can’t ignore it.
The cloak ornament from Season of the Dawn is still janky around the neck; the Titan mark ornament from Hunt still has that chain that hangs rigid rather than flopping around like chains should.
Meanwhile, in Dark Souls 3, the Millwood Knight armor has weird sleeves which are normal when not moving, but twist in ways that make it impossible to believe there’s a human arm beneath them when doing certain emotes or swinging certain weapons. And fat chance of THAT getting patched. I doubt it’ll even be fixed if they ever do a remastered version.
I know that’s a weird thing to bring up here, but it’s the same problem in a different game.
