I notice that the Cross-Save page says that it'll make all my linked accounts publicly viewable from my profile here, and I'm wondering why, because I can't see the point of it and I'd much prefer to keep my connections hidden.
Hi there. There are probably several considerations by Bungie, but I can only offer speculation as the web team hasn't offered rationale.
• Verification that Cross Save is in fact enabled or disabled on a profile.
• It helps Bungie staff, Ninjas, Mentors, and others troubleshoot questions you have related to your Cross Save.
• It makes it clear what accounts a player has linked to their Cross Save while their profile shows only 1 set of characters. Occasionally there are players who link the wrong accounts to their setup.
• Sometimes people forget and don't realize they have Cross Save active, especially when they've been away on a break, which seeing the state of their profile that way helps, such as quickly seeing which accounts are linked at a glance.
• Allows your friends/clan mates to find which accounts you're using on which platforms so they can connect with you. You can still hide your activity status from them on each platform and block requests if you don't want them.
• Makes it easier to tell when an unauthorized account has been linked to someone's Cross Save setup.
• People can only see the account names and platforms linked to your profile. They can't view those accounts' data or characters.
