It's baffling how this game punishes solo players. Difficult and long missions have little to no checkpoints, which means that dying makes you have to start all over again.
The last mission where this is more evident is the Avalon mission. It's probably the most lengthy mission destiny ever had and only has two checkpoints. One when you start the first boss fight and another before starting the Brakion fight.
The problem with this is that theBrakion fight has three phases and if you happen to die in the third phase... you have to start all three phases again. Add to that that the second phase is a time sink with all the mechanics that you need to find your way around.
Why there are no internal checkpoints that break this kind of multiple-stage fights in different checkpoints? What's the point of making players have to do everything again from the beginning? Nobody likes that. Having to go back to phase 1 of a 3 phase fight isn't user-friendly and is a huge waste of time. It's just a bad design that serves no one and adds nothing of value to the experience.
Please do better, Bungie.
