I love playing Destiny 2 and don't mind it when I play with others but I really do love soloing things. However, some of the easier stuff doesn't allow you to go with a solo/no matchmaking options, like vanguard-ops or lower tier nightfalls like Hero difficulty (or advanced in Final Shape). It would be great if when can choose solo options for those. It would be beneficial for those who want to test their builds in lower tier content without others and for those who have a bad connection that gets worse when matchmade with other players.
For the opposite, I would say more things should allow you to opt in for matchmaking for harder content, like raids, higher tier nightfalls/grandmasters and dungeons. I know we have fireteam finder but that is more for those looking into specifics but the least that could be done is allowing more options for opting in or out of matchmaking.
Maybe it might ruin the whole play together with others but I am sure most will keep matchmaking on but there are those select few who would love to do solo queue every once and a while on other options. (Normal Onslaught solo would be a nice option as well).

Voted fine where it's at. Matchmaking for higher content would be a waste of resources. Say that because it would be a disaster. The majority wouldn't be able to finish the activities for various reasons (people with no mics, people joining without champ mods, wiping cause people leaving, etc). Next, the game is multi-player. Yes, there are plenty of things you can do solo, but that doesn't mean it needs solo options for every activity. That defeats the purpose of what the game is. It's just like every single player game doesn't need mp.

There are ways to que into these activities like strikes etc solo. Just Google it. Seems like a waste of dev resources to add this when workarounds exist

I agree about the solo play. Luckily I can go solo on PSN via date change. I used to think matchmaking would work for higher level content but I’ve changed my mind. There are simple activities that still confuse people.

I’ve always wanted a raid training mode, with matchmaking. Maybe single encounters on rotation. There are a lot of people who don’t raid, so it would be a way to get more casual PvE players (like myself) into that content. It could come out a month or two after a raid drops so it doesn’t ruin the mystery.
