I have been watching the class exotic item debate for several days now.
Many feel there was false advertising/deception around the acquisition of these exotic class items.
Another smaller group want to fight them and insult them over the issue because Dad left or something.
Those feeling aggrieved have ever growing numbers beside their posts.
Those fighting/trolling them have '1' or '0' .
This is obviously a majority issue.
I myself, can't stand the vast majority of the human race which is why I play a game where I get to shoot people. Regardless, all of this debate is based on personal opinions so instead I thought I would highlight a fact:
7% of Destiny 2 players on Steam have the achievement for completing a Grand Master Nightfall. FACT.
(in theory it is possible that percentage could be higher on other platforms but there is no reason to indicate why that would be so)
What does this tell us?
Over 90% of Destiny 2 players, for whatever reason, have said "No thanks!" to High Level non-matchmade group content. Think about that.......
Think about that, in the context of the Dual Destiny mission Gatekeeping structure, for the acquisition of exotic class items.
Play it out in your head, as to what happens next. Campaign is done, half a page of ERGO SUM swords in your vault, STILL HUNT? Check! New exotics from Rahool? Check! Season pass done or almost. All prismatic collected.
You have reset Failsafe and red border collection is going well on all fronts but its all a bit repetitive at this stage knowing that 90% of your build-crafting is under lock and key, despite having shelled out 99 bucks (euros in my case) assuming the pathways to the new exotic armor loot would be achievable solo, as they always has been (At least during my time here)
You could Xur farm for more exotic cyphers but you have spent 3 , still have 3, Pathfinder wants to force you into either crucible or Gambit AND its rewards are disappointing.
It is already becoming clear that Episodes are just slower seasons.
You could repeat the whole process on your other two characters.........It seemed like that might be fun last week but so much has changed since then and at the end of that road lies the same problem.
You like to play on your own, chill out, slay out and get your gear at the end.
You have a special relationship with RNG that works for you. You just want to keep going but it's all beginning to.....slow down and stop.
It is the weekend.
What do you do?
Something else.
Solo players vote with their time and wallets.
There is a perfect storm coming for Destiny 2.
