Planets serves no purpose and hasn't done that since the launch of Shadow keep.
Planets now adays is just there for the campaign and Strike(s) to take place on.
Way back planets was a place to farm, level up, do missions and to just have fun on.
Leveling up the vendor to get the whole armor set, the weapons, ghost shell and 3 emblems. Not to mention the 4 different lost sector emblems and the emblem you got for completing your first heroic public event.
You also had adventures and heroic adventures. Weekly rotating missions. We also had a dedicated weekly bounty for planets, called Flashpoints. That bounty would give you a powerful engram called Luminous planetary engram. These would give you high tier rewards and even exotics. It was a great way to make progress and to get new gear.
More challenging enemies and some unique enemies would also spawn on that designated planet.
Killing those special enemies would give you an emblem.
The rewards for completing public events, lost sectors and even patrols was so much better then it is now.
Planets now is just pathetic, you will very rarely get anything when opening chests, there are no more emblems to get from lost sectors and even the vendor. Planets aren't even good for testing out different builds because their power level is so much lower then any other activities.
Point is, there was way more emphasis on planets before, compared to now.
Just wanted to talk about planets and how under utilized they are.

[b]The Pale Hear[/b]t has [i]1,001[/i] reasons to be there. From unlocking all of the [i]Prismatic Fragments[/i], to farming the [i]Weapon Patterns[/i], to[i] Farming Ergo Sum[/i] and [i]Exotic Class Items[/i], there's plenty of reasons to visit THE meta destination.
