PETA has condemned Assassin's Creed 4 because it contains whaling.
Ignoring the fact that it's a video game and people won't instantly condone real-world whaling because it occurs in the game, it's just what happened back then, but for some reason PETA is okay with murder, thievery and general criminality but not the death of whales. Makes total sense.
Ubisoft's response is just perfect, by the way.

I just started playing AC 1 last night. do ya think I can beat them all before black flag?

I remember seeing PETA ad of a lady in a white fur coat, some dude walks up behind her with a golf club....and I'm pretty sure can figure that one out. But, what I got from that is: PETA supports violence against women.

PETA just refuses to admit that man kind wouldn't be where it is today without the consumption other living creatures. I understand ethical treatment, and that if you are going to hunt or harvest wildlife to do it humanely.

AC4 whaling is somewhat historicity correct. And doesn't PETA kill any animals that they take in to "have them adopted"? Didn't they find a dumpster filled with dead dogs and cats? They have no adoption centers and they even said they can kill animals when they want.
