Being able to call out for help and have a nearby player appear, dramatically silhouetted on a hilltop, and rush to the rescue feels very much like the kind of gameplay Destiny is aiming for. This could all be possible with simple PROXIMITY CHAT within the Destiny World. Find yourself within so much distance of a friendly and instantly be able to communicate with that person via voice!
What do you all think of this Idea? With the ability to mute people on the fly as well (in case you run across a 9 year old screaming about poop in the wasteland)

Proximity chat is what made halo awesome. It made halo a very social game which destiny is lacking. The improvements they made to the voice chat on destiny are barely improvements. I still don't hear anyone because it's still worthless. I hear more people with mics on dragon age because they don't split up the chat so much. Game consoles already have their own private chat so why duplicate it. It's redundant having "fireteam" chat. I want to be able to hear my opponents foul our not.

由sergeantawesome編輯: 8/31/2014 8:53:58 PMI am pretty much against prox chat. But, if they were to add it, it needs to be off by default. They already have a decent chat system in the game as it stands.

Proximity chat should be an option and yes off by default. It should have options such as fire team only, private, open, tower only and galaxy wide.

Maybe something where you can click on a person (like you do to inspect them) that can initiate a vc with them. In the crucible, there needs to be the ability to speak with comrades.

由Automatic2209編輯: 8/2/2014 5:52:31 PMIt's a good idea at first, but I personally think proximity chat would ruin the experience. I've played in several MMOs before and when someone comes running through the city spamming texts boxes, it's annoying...now....imagine if that was actual sound in your ears and the only notification you had is a little mic notification next to their player name. That would be hard to find the person to mute them, not to mention every one else's mic notification would be going off at the same time. It seems like a good idea at first, but when you put deeper thought into it. It would be VEERRRRY hard to implement. In free roam I could see it because there aren't as many people and it's a bigger space unlike the tower. The tower would be too hard to implement. The easiest way to meet people would be to do a strike or pvp, and go in with a mic or send someone a message asking if you can be part of their clan. Or you can always browse the forums to meet a group of people. There are tons of clans searching for members.

Needs to be able to be disabled completely (so it's never accidentally turned on by someone who despises the thing completely) Needs to have at least a function that enables your mic to proximity chat from Fireteam chat, so that you can switch between easily. Needs to have a function that lets you switch it on/off in-game. Easy ways to do: a single button - hold the button to enable/disable proximity chat, press the button to enable/disable your mic to the proximity chat

由Jake The Jinxed編輯: 7/25/2014 1:29:50 PMHey, lets dance! Or point at one another! YAY! its awesome.... NOT! Voice communication without the daunting task of having to go through 7 menus only to have it fudged up anyway...... Bungie seriously needs to take a closer look at the communication between people in game. It is, after all, a social, online game. Am I right?

If Fable can do it, Destiny can. We already have a "roster" list, implementing an extra "mute" feature by highlighting their name on said list and pressing a button shouldn't be too hard. Especially if a mic icon (much like Halo lobbies) can be seen so people can see who the annoying one is, but that might be asking too much.

Yes!! This is what the majority wants and would make this game soo much better. It's silly this wasn't included. People who are against it clearly don't know what a mute button is. Also they could make it option that you have to turn ON so that those against don't have to waste their finger stamina, sheesh!
