CITY NEWS:
MORE WEATHER IS EXPECTED
The Awoken Titan grunted as he continued his workout, legs wrapped firmly around the metal bar as he hung upside down from it, lifting his upper body up over and over. He had to keep in shape, he had to get even stronger.
'Alar?'
The Warlock occupied the doorway, his head tilted to one side to meet the fiery golden gaze. Surprised, the Titan fell to the floor with a crash before quickly picking himself back up and clearing his throat.
'You saw nothing.'
'I saw you working out, nothing more.' The Warlock carried a small purple box in his hands. 'Um... This is from me by way of an apology.'
It had been something of a sore spot between the two leaders of their Fireteams, but their first and only joint attempt on the Vault of Glass dissolved into a full blown skirmish once Atheon had been defeated. It had resulted in Alar breaking the Warlock's skull in, only for Felix to come back from the dead and incinerate him with a slap across the face. Then it had all ended when Alar's team leader, the Huntress, Sarah had drawn her Arc Blade and made a dashing strike right for the Sunsinger's heart, only for her to be shot down with a Golden Gun bullet right through the heart courtesy of their team's own Hunter.
'Oh? Have you brought me a present?' Alar leant on the bar, massive arms bulging, he gave a playful wink.
'Indeed I have-'
'Felix! Outside, quickly!!'
'-Ow!' Clutching the side of his head, Felix drew in a sharp breath. 'Indoor Comms, Cass, I can hear you fine.'
'B-but, Ikora just got totally smushed on mulled wine, and now she's chasing Zavala around the plaza with mistletoe, some Hunters just decorated Eris' ship- and Eris herself- with christmas lights, and Xur has a hat!'
'Ha, now this I have to see.' Placing the present down on a chair, Felix quickly hurried out, his coat tails flying out behind him.
Curious, Alar brushed aside the long locks of white hair in his face before opening the box, a smile cracked across his features as he saw the familiar shape etched out in cake and icing; a Ghost cake.
By the time Felix reached the plaza, Ikora had lost her mistletoe; gone, like so much else, over the side of the railings. She now instead satiated herself by dancing on top of the Vanguard table. At some point Cayde had joined her too, the Exo sporting a curious pair of antlers. Zavala simply watched the pair of them, unamused. One only had to peek outside into the plaza itself to see Eris and her ship glowing against the night. Some Hunters had stolen packages from the post office to leave at her feet.
'... You... You are the one I was sent to find...'
That otherworldly rasp of a voice could belong to only one creature. The Sunsinger turned to find the Agent of the Nine huddled in the shadows besides Arcite's desk, a big, floppy red hat worn atop his hood, and several others threatened to spill from his rucksack, along with the back end of a rather familiar, and recently much coveted Norse rocket launcher.
'Hello again, Xur.'
Completely ignoring him, Felix approached the Frame.
'Arcite, where is Shaxx? It's not like him to miss all this madness.'
'Shaxx is hosting Skirmish.' Arcite responded, looking up from a stream of data. 'Crucible ID?'
'No, I don't want to buy anything right now. I just went on a splurge with Helium Filaments.'
The Frame titled its head to one side before responding.
'Felix Castor, Warlock, Crucible Rank 5, Dead Orbit Representative.'
'Arcite, I don't need my own file read back to me, thank you.'
'See you later?'
'Maybe.'
Cassandra and Sasha occupied the postmaster's roof, sitting there in their Christmas hats and watching the dance party of hats and pumpkin heads break out beneath them.
'Do you ever wonder if there's some... greater meaning to it all?' Sasha wondered, the Titan looked to her Hunter comrade, confused.
'Like what?'
'It's like... There's some pantheon of trickster gods out there, constantly trolling us. You don't ever stop and wonder why this is happening?'
'I just thought it was the Vanguard trying to spice things up- Look, a turkey!'
Following Cassandra's pointing, Sasha doubled over laughing as he spotted a lone Exo running through the crowd, the entire chest portion of his armour had been transformed into a roast turkey. The swarm of dancers descended upon the post office beneath them and soon the dance party was in full swing again, each and every one wearing roast turkeys on their chests.
In a rush of wind and gliding air, Sasha floated up to join them.
'Why are there so many people running about with turkeys on their chests?'
'... It's just that time of year.' Sasha shrugged, cut off a second later by Cassandra's gasp as she pointed up to the grey clouds above.
'Look... It's snowing.'
A childlike joy sparkled in her eyes as the first few flakes fell to the floor, much to the enjoyment of the Guardians on the plaza floor.
The next day a snowball fight had broken out in the tower, it was impossible to walk the plaza without getting struck. Even Shaxx had been blind-sided whilst complaining to the Frame besides him, looking around, a source of snickering came from the direction of Ikora and Cayde.
Pulling off his helmet, he wiped it off, green eyes narrowing in annoyance. Stopping to respike his dark blond hair, he replaced his helmet and pointed up the stairs.
'Let's take this outside...'
Cayde and Ikora exchanged glances of faux worry before agreeing to double team now and backstab later.
A creaky old Arcadia class Jumpship cleared the cloud layer and made it to the Tower plaza, depositing a newborn Guardian and their ghost onto the steps before barely making it to the Hangar before it completely fell to bits.
'... And this Tower is where the Guardians-' The Ghost stopped, squinting in confusion as Ikora was hit in the face. Cayde began snickering before Shaxx readied his next projectile, a snowball of a size suitable enough to serve as a snowman's body, he heaved and threw it as though it weighed nothing, sending the Exo Hunter crashing to the ground.
'... Um...'
'Snow!' The newborn Guardian squealed in delight, she immediatly hurried off to join the chaos as a hundred other rickety jumpships cleared the cloud layer...
Moments before a snowball could strike Felix in the face, a barrier of bright purple light erupted around him and his friends, shielding them from the onslaught.
'Now, why did no-one tell me about this?' Alar wondered, arms still reaching out and watching in amusement as more bubbles popped up across the plaza.
Eris remained oblivious to the whole thing, even with presents now covering her up to her waist, tinsel wrapped around her body, and a Ghost figurine perched on her head.
